What is the 12 Mukhi Rudraksha?

The 12 Mukhi Rudraksha, adorned with twelve vertical lines or faces known as “Mukhi,” represents the twelve forms of Lord Surya, the radiant source of light, energy, and life in the Universe. This Rudraksha, also known as Dwadash Aditya, is blessed by Lord Surya, granting the wearer his grace and blessings. According to the Padma Puran, wearing the 12 Mukhi Rudraksha brings wealth and happiness to the wearer while shielding them from the fear of fiery energies and diseases. It’s a deterrent to poverty and nullifies sins related to harming animals and soldiers during wars.

The Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam assures that the wearer of this Rudraksha need not fear armed men, horned animals, or lions. It alleviates physical and mental agony, instilling fearlessness and freedom from trouble. Lord Vishnu’s blessings, as per the Rudraksha Jabalo Upanishad, accompany this bead, bestowing leadership qualities and the ability to influence and control others. It radiates the wearer’s inner strength, eliminates doubts, and fosters internal happiness. The 12 Mukhi Rudraksha is available in small, large, and collectors sizes.

Story about the presiding deity:

As per the Samba Purana, Lord Krishna married Jambwanti and they had a son called Samba. He was extremely handsome. His charm and radiance were exemplary. However, he once sinned and as a result, was afflicted with leprosy. His youthful charm now began to wilt and moved towards a very challenging physical appearance. His health began to fail. This prompted him to invoke Surya / Sun. He prayed sincerely till Surya appeared and blessed him. It was with Surya’s blessings that Samba could do away with this misfortune. Thus he was free from diseases and regained his attractiveness once again.

An excerpt from this Purana calls Lord Surya the radiant master of the Universe, who through his rays, bestows knowledge. He can bestow salvation through his presence and radiance. Lord Surya has a red complexion, rides a chariot drawn by the seven white horses, and holds the divine wheel of Time. He is the father who gives warmth, and radiance and burns down all sins with his thousand rays of light. This is how the Suryashtakam ends describing the power of this deity from the Rig Veda.
